What is this allergic reaction people have to books? It’s been said that black children are increasingly using the Internet and are more likely than others to use text messaging as a regular form of communication.

But can media and technology really help decrease illiteracy? Or are children going to have to sit down and read?

  1. Man! Black children are f**ked unless we can find new ways of making them learn something in the internet and via television.

  2. Are they really? I don’t think they use the internet because they think thy are going to find something useful there to learn or read. They go on the internet because they don’t want to read anything nor study for school. This is just going to get worse and worse. White kids are reading more and using the internet for more useful things than black kids are.

  3. Yeah, another way of saying they are indeed f**kd. It’s terrible. What can I say. The situation is not getting any better. They watch all this TV and surf the internet all day, on their phones, in the school libraries and computer labs… just doing unnecessary stuff all the time. Thy can actually pick up a typing book or a programing book and do some exercises on their own but they won’t. And nobody is going to ask them to neither b’cos a lot of our parent don’t know jack about what computers are about anyway.

  4. Am just gonna make sure my baby mamas are smart and independent. Am just gonna be like, ‘hey! if you don’t read that book, your mama is gone get you… for real’. I shd work. At least it work for my older cousin… it can work for me and all you guys.

  5. What we do with computers and technology matters definitely. Some kids writing programs before they 10 so kids could use it to their benefit if they learn how
