The Fox News Twitter account, FoxNewspolitics, was hacked early Monday morning on the 4th of July. The Twitter feed displayed six tweets detailing the (false) assassination of President Obama, which went out to its nearly 40,000 followers.

The tweets remained on the Foxnewspolitics Twitter feed for several hours. The political news organization alleged that the hackers had changed the password, denying them access to the account and that Twitter was unresponsive during Fox News’ initial contacts to the social networking organization.

Jeff Misenti, vice president and general manager of Fox News Digital commented:

We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorized access into FoxNews.com accounts.

This follows the incident earlier this year when the Fox News ticker outside their New York location was also hacked.

  1. What are the chances that they were actually hacked into? Couldn’t this just be a ploy to attract more attention to FOX NEWS?
