Donald Trump, chairman and president of the Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts.

Have you heard of Trump?

Born June 14, 1946, Donald J. Trump is an aspiring presidential candidate for one of two political dynasties, the Republican Party, in the USA – vying for the next elections in 2016.

He is otherwise a real estate magnate, television personality, politician, and author – or so he claims. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts in America. His branding efforts, business career, outspoken manner, and media appearances have made him a celebrity of some sort in America. He hosted The Apprentice, a U.S. television program on a major network.

It wasn’t until 2010 when Trump expressed an interest to become a Republican candidate for President in the 2012 election. But in May 2011, he announced he would not run.

Why should we be interested in Trump?

On June 16, 2015, Trump once again formally announced his candidacy for President of the United States in the 2016 election, seeking the nomination of the Republican Party. No surprise there.

However, Trump’s early campaigning has seen him catapult to high levels of popular support at the consternation of the Republican party leadership who have by every imagination, anointed Mr. Jeb Bush, the younger sibling of former president George W. Bush and the last son of former president George H. W. Bush.

That has certainly taken the Republicans in the US by surprise! Since late July 2015, he has been at the top in the public opinion polls for the Republican Party nomination.

However, his recent suggestion that a Fox News journalist had questioned him forcefully at the Republican presidential debate because she was menstruating seems to have cost him a speaking slot on Saturday night at an influential gathering of conservatives in Atlanta.

The Trump controversy began on Friday night, when he said in an interview with CNN that Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever” while she questioned him at the Quicken Loans Arena in the American city of Cleveland, on issues including his past statements about women.

Dissatisfied with his treatment by Fox News moderator Megyn Kelly in Thursday night’s first Republican presidential debate, Donald Trump added “bimbo” to an expanding list of unflattering terms he is comfortable publicly ascribing to women.

In a Twitter rant that began at around 3.20am, the real-estate mogul and poll leader fired off criticism at Kelly.

“The biggest loser in the debate was @megynkelly,” he said. “You can’t out trump Donald Trump. You will lose!”

He then retweeted: “Fox viewers give low marks to bimbo @megynkelly will consider other programs!”

In the debate, Kelly pressed the real-estate tycoon on his surly temperament and misogynistic remarks. In response, Trump sneered.

“You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” Kelly began.

“Only Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump interrupted, earning loud cheers from the crowd.

“Thank you,” he said.

“For the record,” Kelly said, “It was well beyond Rosie O’Donnell.”

O’Donnell quickly fired back. The comedian said on Twitter: “Try explaining that 2 ur kids.”

The exchange between Kelly and Trump was among the most memorable moments of the debate, though it failed to extract a relevant response about the candidate’s views of women.

It also raised new but important questions about how much longer Republican Party leaders would have to contend with Mr. Trump’s disruptive presence in the primary field.

What a piece of work Donald Trump is – the ugly American incarnate. And yet, he has a following on television, in business, and in the Republican Party. What does that say about the USA and its style of democracy?

It is odd that his fellow Republicans are outraged about Trump’s comments about women, yet his crew – Walker, Cruz, Huckabee et. al. get a pass after saying they want no exception for abortion, even for the life of the mother.

Trump might certainly be rude towards women – the others, Jeb Bush included, seem to be more of a danger to women.

“I don’t have time for political correctness and neither does the country,” Trump said. He later added: “Frankly, what I say and oftentimes it’s fun, it’s kidding, we have a good time.”

Quite the American – exceptionalism, indeed!

So what is the problem in America? Trump speaks what Republican men believe. They ignore the truth about Capitalism and Natural Selection, they ignore the truth about Global Warming, and it follows that they will ignore the truth about themselves so long us it makes money.

It seems for now that the Republican establishment which is tasked to present one candidate to contest the 2016 American Presidential Elections against Mrs. Hilary Clinton have drawn a red line in the sand for Conservatives:

‘Don’t insult a blond blue-eyed white woman! You can hate on Mexicans, immigrants, minority women, African Americans, but you poke one of ours and the wrath of Zeus descend on you.’

Donald John Trump is nothing but a bully, a clown, a phony and a pimp. But at his heart, his is an infant with serious character flaws. The anger he taps is half wrong and half unproductive. Being mad never solved a problem. And the Republican Party particularly at the national level created and promoted the kind of mindless anger without direction.

There are no reasonable options being presented or advanced in America’s democracy. Barack Obama, for now, seems like the last of dying breed. And the anger of the ‘immature ones’ left, lacks clarity let alone some direction.

So America, the Republican Party and Clintonians, have no one but themselves to blame for Trump. He is Citizens United – an unlimited role for the rich in the exceptional American democracy.

This is what they wish to spread across the globe.

  1. The Republican’s War on Women continues. It seems that the GOP is trying to (through Megyn Kelly) get rid of candidates who have a bad reputation with women. Trump, if he is a serious candidate, is definitely one of those who will not win the female vote. Romney had a problem with his binders of women and that was a thorn in his side during the campaign. Maybe Jeb Bush hasn’t put his foot in his mouth yet and so they are trying to lay a path for him?

  2. Is Trump married? I don’t know how he could be with those statements. But I guess if he has billions, the wife could live in another house.

  3. Trump should win the Republican nomination. It will make for an easy Democratic win. I think the author is right that Barack Obama is the last of a dying breed. No candidates from either party says a lot about a lack of democracy. How can there be no real candidates from a country of 330 million people? It says that the rich have truly taken over America.
