This used to be my favorite movie. Hopefully they don’t f**k it up! Quite honestly, can they just leave the old movies alone.
I don’t know but there’s something itchy about the picture this movie paints. At least in the trailer, you have this big black ape standing over the white couple when they were obviously asleep. It just reminded me of Hillary Clinton’s campaign ad, the 3 AM Call. Did anyone notice? So though there are black people in this movie and this picture looks nice the color contrasts between the main characters and the ‘apes’ are still a little inviting for a dialogue on race, slavery, eugenics, evolution and doom’s day.
I totally agree. I couldn’t keep my mind of thinking likewise when I saw the trailer.
It looks cool barring the whole black/white drama. For me it reminds me of Lord Of The Rings. The bad people are the black ones. It’s how it was in Hollywood and how it is. Remember King Kong? It’s how it’s gonna be unless we support an independent and global black movie industry. We have to realize we cannot do it all on our own, separately, but together, we are unbreakable.
I don’t see the striking analogies of race here at all. And I cannot be any more enlightened on the subject except that you guys are reading too much into the movie. Just watch it and have some fun. Forget you are black or white for some day.
Do you live in America on Planet Earth or somewhere else? Race is always an issue in movies. If you watch Quentin Tarrantino’s Inglorrious Basterds and the whole analogy of race in King Kong then you may understand a little what Nkrumah is driving at.
