The Images of Black Women Festival is the only UK festival celebrating the global black experience with a particular focus on women.
The festival is wrapping up this weekend and will feature films such as I Will Follow – a day in the life of a woman at a crossroads, For Colored Girls – the Tyler Perry adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s poetry, Afro Hair – a documentary on black hair, Chico & Rita – an animated love story about Afro-Cuban jazz.
It will also feature a filmmakers’ forum + discussion of how 21st century women are influencing their own media representations and an animation forum of African heroes.
