Written, directed and produced by industry veteran Jono Oliver, Home is the story of a man recovering from mental illness, who tries to rebuild his life and reconnect with his estranged son by accomplishing one primary goal: moving out of the group home where he resides and into an apartment of his own.
It is a ubiquitous story about hope, redemption and moving forward in life that on some level everybody can relate to. It is a drama that involves a protagonist who is always facing conflict and who, at times, is against all odds. With its primary characters living in and around the world of mental illness and recovery–a world not often seen in movies or on television–the world of home is a new and exciting place that audiences will want to visit.

Home is Oliver’s directorial debut. In 2007, he created Brooklyn Psych, a dramatic series for television about mental health workers and their patients, that was bought and developed by CBS/Paramount. A graduate of Stanford University, he wrote for the CBS television series Blue Bloods and was assistant director on a number of popular flicks, including Notorious, The Great Debaters, and Barbershop 2.
Home also boasts a cast of well-respected and experienced actors: stars Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3, The Wire) as “Jack,” and features Tawny Cypress (World Trade Center, Heroes), Danny Hoch (The Thin Red Line, Bamboozled, Black Hawk Down), James McDaniel (Detroit 1-8-7, Malcolm X, NYPD Blue) Joe Morton (American Gangster, Terminator 2) and KK Moggie (The Sleeping Dictionary, Mercy).

Looks like this one is gonna turn out better than imagined. I will give it a shot – but filmclique, I need to know your thoughts on this one too.
It’s mighty to see Akinnagbe back in this one!
Jono is definitely an industry veteran and I loved his 1999 short film, The Window… this one is most definitely a must watch.
Yes, Oliver has been a DGA assistant director for many years. I am a fan, and l look forward to this new film. Finally some trailer I can hope in.
Seems there’s a lot of class in this film. It made well and shot pretty well. I count on Jono doing a whole lot more after this.
I am waiting to see this film at the Blackstar Festival in Philly. At this point I have almost watched all the trailers on Youtube etc. I am sooooo looking forward to seeing this one.
