The “I am White And I say So” Nonsense.
For instance: “I am white and I say that I am Black.” Nonsense! “I am white and I feel Black.” Also nonsense! “I am white and I can be whatever I want.” Equally nonsensical.
You doubt this happens? Here’s a video for those of us who like to talk (racial) identity as if we live in a society of zero consequences and no meaning. A white man, born and bred of all the privileges thrust upon him by the Euro-American terrorist institutions, and who has now as a result terrorized a Black person, and is in court to explain his actions, is now pivoting that he’s, himself, African/Black.
Why does he feel the need to engage in this kind of racecraf? It is to say exactly that his terrorism is non-racial. It is to say that the racism he dished out does not exist. It is to attempt to de-legitimize the prevailing reality that he was able to do what he did to a Black person because he is white/Caucasian. The “I am white and I say so.” More of the same!
Today, we are equally caught within the same conundrum: Of an Indian American woman (not to be confused with American Indian), whose mother claimed Indo-Aryan (Indian) descent, i.e claimed to be Caucasian, and whose grandparent is Irish/White, and whose handlers are now pivoting her to be an African American woman vice presidential Democratic candidate in the US, simply because she is going on public trial/scrutiny and so she needs a tool (the racecraft) to explain her profoundly infamous actions against the scores of Black men and women she was enabled by the terrorism of the Euro-American InJustice System to incarcerate!
What do I mean? The idea of “Racial Fluidity,” — i.e. that idea that it is okay for Kamala Harris to “flow” between being Indian when she deems it fit for the occasion, to Irish, and also to African American when that becomes palatable — is exactly for this reason: So that perpetrators of the terror of white supremacism against Black people can intend, and simultaneously, claim innocence of their actions against the very people they partly hate and partly despise.
More, in this particular example of the racecraft of Kamala Harris, it is so that the white establishment that is the Democrat Party, in like behavior as the general attitude of the entirety of the Euro-American white establishment, can claim innocence of their Anti-Blackness by pointing to Obama and to Kamala as evidence against their Anti-Black terrorism.
In other words, to preempt the revolutionary call by African Americans to build an actual egalitarian American society, far from the current unequal distribution and redistribution of resources that has been rampant in American society for centuries and continuing, the Euro-American white establishment would rather engage in the racecraft of racial fluidity.
The problem is not even that the racecraft is not obvious. The fact is that it is a glaring strategy, performed in open space for all to see. The problem, however, is that there is no unified Black/African front to confront the stagecraft, this racecraft, and dismantle its meaning and practice.
Instead, what we have is that some of us, Africans/Blacks, are impervious to the discussion of the racecraft fashioned against our existence. Emotions easily flare up because it is somewhat enticing for some Stockholm-syndrome-minded victims of white terrorism to see themselves in the oppressor. And for that matter we attempt the self-deprecating exercise of finding remnants of ourselves, of our Ancestors, in Obama and Kamala, and we certainly, by dint of hard mental psychosis, rationalize the terrorism of the Euro-American white racist establishments that prop them up.
Watch this video and see how racial fluidity is summoned by a white man in court as evidence against his Anti-Black terrorism.
At what point does this neoliberal nonsense stop? At what point do we put an end to the mockery of the racecraft of the Euro-American white establishment – which is where individuals are being emboldened to engage in this pervasive, insidious, racecraft?
Now, I am not so naive to think that some Africans/Black people will see this video and not immediately think that a white man who wants to be Black is a great idea! Some, the Stockholm-syndrome-minded ones will think so. But the reason they entertain that idea is not because they are inherently unintelligent. It is because their foolishness has been born and bred of the idealism/terrorism of white supremacism in our African colonial missionary schools.
Those who have no skin in the game of Blackness can say whatever they like in the safety of their racist establishments. And those whose skin is stuck in perpetual degradation by the terrorism of Euro-American institutions, yet who still cannot get it, are victims of that terrorism.
When they were pushing your buttons, they didn’t know what they were pushing. But, I knew they didn’t know that the were pushing for more of your beat down on their ignorance. Another perspicacious essay on the racecraft of whiteness. Soldier on brother. Kudos!
