It’s just lip service. The news programs don’t want to over Ferguson. They know it would be racist not to. So they have to use a bunch of numbers glossing over it so that it appears they care and covered it. That’s all. Nothing surprising for American media. That’s why black people need to focus on having their own media outlets to tell their stories how they see fit.
I’m not gonna lie. I had to look up paralipsis before I even looked at the pictures. But I do agree that these statistics do say very little about what’s going on in Ferguson, even as they say they are covering the story. I don’t know though if we can expect news media stations to cover more since they are owned by a few people and do not feel obligated to represent the people. But we should definitely hold them up to higher standards.
