Hollywood is full of stars who started in the comedy trenches and are now big names in features and television.

For instance, at 19, Eddie Murphy became a breakout star on Saturday Night Live and later headlined huge movie successes like Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and Coming to America (1988). Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie Foxx, and Martin Lawrence made the same leap, as did Robin Williams, Tina Fey, Jim Carrey, and Steve Martin.

Like these actors, Cedric the Entertainer also got his start in comedy.

Born Cedric Antonio Kyles, Cedric the Entertainer made his first TV appearances as a comedian on It’s Showtime at the Apollo, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, and BET’s ComicView.

Also in the works, TV Land recently announced a spinoff for its show Hot In Cleveland that will star Cedric the Entertainer as a minister. The untitled spinoff will be introduced through Hot In Cleveland episodes this summer with plans to later break off into its own series.

As if he’s not busy enough, Ced the Entertainer is also launching a new fashion line called Who Ced, which will center around men’s fashion and accessories. And if anyone knows a thing or two about hats, Cedric surely does!

  1. Big ups to Ced doing big things! Though it seems everybody and they mama starting a fashion line these days.

  2. I just don’t know about Cedric and fashion. I know he wears expensive stuff but I mean… that’s like if you give anyone 10,000 dollars to go out there and look nice, of course, anyone can do that. Sometimes even with a little help from the store. I just don’t see his fashion taste here.

  3. I love hats. Cedric is ma main man. Besides hats, my main man should keep to comedy. ‘Cos I don’t be knowing what he be wearing sometimes.

  4. I tend not to drop a comment, but I browsed a few responses on this page Cedric The Entertainer: Comedian Turned Hollywood Veteran | FilmClique.
