The USA – In an interview with Diane Sawyer on Monday, Mrs. Clinton was asked to explain accepting six-figures for speaking engagements after leaving the White House in 2001.
We came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea’s education. You know, it was not easy.
She continued:
Bill has worked really hard, and it’s been amazing to me. He’s worked very hard. First of all, we had to pay off all our debts. You know, you had to make double the money because of, obviously, taxes, and then pay off the debts and get us houses and take care of family members.
Politicians, like Mrs. Clinton, often attempt to show that they understand the economic struggles of the average person by comparing their personal experiences with those of the people whose votes they are seeking.
Abraham Lincoln’s story of being born in a log cabin is but one classic example of the practice.
Bill “Man from Hope” Clinton also pulled it off when he ran for president in 1992. He was a governor of a small Southern state. He, unlike his mistress was not far removed from some youthful struggles to make ends meet.
So it was no surprise that Mrs. Clinton who seems to be launching an elaborate campaign to run for president in 2016 on the Democratic ticket would express her link to struggling poor Americans:
We came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt.
But her writing and reading of her family situation was not only a tad bit exaggerated. It was an outright lie and it was intentional.
The U.S. is known to be the opposite of many African States. In the U.S. a candidate becomes a millionaire first, and then run for president. You would think in theory that this would be a good thing – to be rich before getting into positions of power – to enable politicians avoid the temptation to be corrupt and dishonest.
However, Mrs. Clinton does not seem to have evolved – she is constantly quoted on her utmost support for Wall Street where most of her family friends work, the culprits in the 2007 global financial meltdown.
Show me a poor US politician, and I’ll show you a fat bank account in the Cayman Islands.
Why do I not feel any sympathy for Mrs. Clinton?
The fact of the matter is that the average American owes part of a $17.5 Trillion national debt – that is, $55,125.00, and counting – and that average American never spent it, never borrowed it, but he/she is still going to be have to pay for it.
So it’s difficult to sympathize with a woman who has millions sitting safely in her bank account.
Is Mrs. Clinton a trustworthy candidate and do Americans deserve more for a president?
After her involvement in Libya, her lies about being shot at in Sarajevo and her complicity in the capture of Osama Bin Laden, can Americans really believe anything she says?
When she claims she works very hard, it smacks of arrogance. For example, does she work as hard as a single mother holding down three jobs, struggling to put food in her childrens’ bellies, and decent clothes on their backs?
According to Mrs. Clinton’s wealth, she must have worked about 10,000 times harder! Because, wealth equates to how hard one works? Apparently!
The minimum wage in the USA is $7.25/hour (£4.35) and hasn’t increased in nearly 5 years. The mayor of Seattle just signed into law $15/hour (£8.90) to be ‘phased in’ over the next 3 to 7 years! Mrs. Clinton’s kind of broke must be REALLY hard to take.
This leads me to underscore a misconception in American politics itself. This idea that there is a socialist left (Democrats) and a capitalist right (Republican) is false. The only common denominator in American politics is that the 50 percent who vote Democrat are completely out of touch. The 50 percent who vote Republican simply leave their brains behind.
Obama isn’t the socialist Messiah he is portrayed as. He is left of the republicans, but still right of centre.
African Americans should shudder at the thought of voting for Mrs. Hillary Clinton as the Presidential candidate for the democrats. Her attitude of entitlement is nauseating, her posturing in the media that she gave President Obama the chance and the opportunity to become president, and that now it’s her time to be president is utterly ridiculous.
African Americans should shun her. She doesn’t have their best interest, she loves Wall Street she continues to hurt African American progress, and in fact she and her husband seem to care less about engaging in constructive policies that will bridge the wealth gap in the US.
Everything about Mrs.Clinton is mediocre. On her own, she would have been no more than a suburban Illinois lawyer. She made one right decision in her life: she married Bill Clinton and aims to ride that into the White House. She’s George W Bush in a dress only with liberal politics.
