That this alone shows that ‘NADA1’ is a complete forgery on the face of it even without the need for forensic test since as a one-time statutory member of both the General Legal Council and Board Of Legal Education, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo knew or ought to have known the proper procedure for obtaining a replacement for his enrollment and qualifying certificates if indeed as per his claim the originals of same are lost and not to resort to junior officer who at the time of signing the letter of confirmation was acting administrative secretary purporting to be acting on behalf of the substantive secretary to the General Legal Council for certification as a practicing lawyer in Ghana.
Justice Kpegah’s motion further asked the High Court to declare that the name Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not on the latest edition of the Roll of Lawyers in Ghana from 1877 to February, 1997 and also a declaration be made on the defendant who once served as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, as not entitled to practice law in Ghana.
The ex-Supreme Court judge wants the law firm established as Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co. located at 67 Kojo Thompson Road, Adabraka, Accra, declared as an illegal law firm and therefore not competent to represent any party in litigation before any court in Ghana.
He argued that there had been “clearly a clandestine and fraudulent attempt on the part of Defendant, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his lawyers to get onto the roll of lawyers in Ghana through the back door”.
He is praying on the court to place a perpetual injunction restraining the said Nana Addo from holding himself out as a lawyer competent to practice in the Ghanaian courts or anybody regarding him as such, and an immediate closure of the said law firm.
“I served the defendant/ respondent with my writ of summons and statement of claim, a request to admit certain facts pursuant to order 23 Rule 2(1): the facts of which admission was required per request are as follows that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not the same as W.A.D Akufo addo, 1190 on the roll Of lawyers in Ghana, and that Prempeh who is his junior partner is not on the roll of lawyers In Ghana”.
