This week, Jermaine Paul was crowned winner of NBC’s The Voice, Season 2 – receiving the show’s top prize of $100,000 and a record deal with Universal.
In the last round of competition, he sang R. Kelly’s I Believe I Can Fly for his final solo performance. Watch the video.
Prior to The Voice, Paul was in constant pursuit of his dreams to become a professional musician. At age 15, he signed with the group 1Accord to Shaquille O’Neal’s music label, Twism Records.
Later, he auditioned for American Idol but did not receive any luck with callbacks.
More recently, he sang background vocals for Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Blackstreet, and Joss Stone.
