The Sword of Colonialism.
In Africa, several mercenaries abound. Mercenaries that European colonialists (terrorists), and now the Euro-American Cartels, use to seize and maintain their violence all across the African continent.
Most of these mercenaries don’t look the part. Some of these benign-looking, unassuming but dangerous mercenaries include our “Democratic” politicians. Their education is European. Their language is European. Some of them their diet and wives are also European. Most of these wield more Classroom Education (CE) than all their Ancestors combined. They are the more educated than their ancestors – the METHA. Which education we can now better refer to as Crass Encephalopathy (CE) – a serious disease that arrests proper brain function.
But of all the Metha, one crude type of mercenary stands the tallest. For instance in Ghana, he is the Gold Coast Soldier. He is crude in every rendition of the word. He is stubborn by training, and cannot ever change his mind on his own accord, unless, of course, he is carefully instructed by his European Commanders.
The Gold Coast Soldier is a very interesting breed of man with a very low self-esteem. He has little CE education. First, he rushed to become a European mercenary because he was essentially an African outlaw – he was just nuts and so his village kicked him to the side. European colonialists picked him up. Colonialists love these nuts, however. Nuts get the job done on their own people. Nuts hate civility and nuts do not like civilized people. And boy, has African States been terrorized by these European Mercenaries!
After the Fake Independence of Ghana in 1957, The Gold Coast Soldier was solidified into the Sword of Government. The Ghana Armed Forces. Before then, he was the Sword of Colonialism. Now he is the Sword of the Colonial State, called Government, in Accra. His presence has wiped out the real Defenders of African Freedoms – the State Asafo. Without the Gold Coast Soldier, without his mercenary skills, there would be no such thing as the Colonial State sheepishly, and shamelessly named after one of Africa’s Greatest Empires, Ghana.
The Gold Coast Soldier is the worst of the Metha. He is by all accounts, an automaton for the Colonial Euro-American Empire. A tool to be unleashed on the African Masses at the whim and caprice of the Colonialists. The Gold Coast Soldier is an anomaly in Africa. Without him there is no colony! He is in fact, Cell Zero, in the metastasizing cancer eating away at our African Freedoms!
Narmer Amenuti, the part you are not addressing is that some of your Asafo relatives were enlisted into the Colonial Regiments and turned into COs and WOs. These people lent so much African War Strategy to the Colonial Armies for free! These armies were then turned on other African States. The colonialists were successful in breeding ethnic colonial armies and teaching them hatred for other African ethnic groups. it was easy for these regiments to be unleashed on States they knew nothing about. But the free transfer of Africa’s war machinery to these terrorists should never go without mention.
I do not disagree. However, let us keep the transfer of Africa’s war resources to the colonial armies in perspective. It is not like they freely did it. Either they were forced or they were put in a situation with other African State Armies that they could no longer trust one another. The actual transfer of personnel took place way after these Asafos had been thoroughly defeated by the mercenaries from various ethnic groups across Africa. I think that this is a consequence of “Good” colonialism, a sign and sight of a collapsed Asafo, in which its own personel run to join the ranks of the enemy. Defecting is not new to Africa. Defecting is also not a sign of the will of the people. It is just that, defecting!
And the Colonial authorities did not trust any one to protect them and do their bidding in the territories of the gold coast except the Hausas and it fostered
” divide and rule ” and tribalism .
I wonder why ?
But those swords are still used by 21 century governments. Why call it sword of colonialism?
This well-reasoned piece generally undermines Nefetiti’s piece on “Reparations Blunders and the continued mistreatment of all Humans”. How can you make a good and sustainable claim for reparations from a tormentor, whose tormenting could not have been possible but for the collaboration provided by your compatriots? People from whom you make no similar demands except to describe them, interestingly, as METHA?
Samuel Ahiabor, all that to say that in human interactions, there are no specific truths, only general truths. Specific truths only apply in the hard sciences (even that is being debated). As for general truths, I can say that Ewes love Akple and Fetri deshi. This is a general truth (i.e. I am not wrong, in general). The statement is made while understanding that some Ewes actually detest Akple and Fetri deshi.
Such is the world we live in. It is cutthroat, with real consequences for our actions. Yet social history and politics cannot be subdivided into neat Black and white classes as plants are silo-ed into neat Kingdoms.
My point is yes, if someone comes to your house, and colludes with your daughter to have you murdered (Taflatse), that person is still a murderer with or without the collusion of your daughter. (Now, we can talk about the daughter and what she knew and didn’t know, whether she colluded willingly or sheepishly. All that is an internal matter, for after all many people have given up their nations as spies and as soldiers without understanding the enemy’s end game of their own actions).
All this to say that the unpatriotic act of the spy does not erase the actual act of the terrorism of those who find happiness in tormenting, killing and enslaving people with a particular Ancestry.
Hmmm. The akple and fetri detsi analogy is a powerful one. It is in fact a delicacy where l hail,
and l understand the logic very well. The point is that the murderer appears to understand the complaint against him but believes we are not angry enough because he sees us at table with our erring daughter, and if we take steps against our daughter we will break the family and make the murderer happy. So what do we do? How can we convince the murderer of our pain while we remain at table with our daughter? Mutual exclusivity?
It is Awake, now Arise…..Rise Rise Rise
Kofi Tufuo Afrifa Come again, Sir.
Mr. Yaw Dankwa, I have read your reactions sent to me by Whatsapp. I would have preferred you placed it on facebook. That is where the debate is, and I am not the originator of it as you think. In truth, it is an old debate. Hopefully, it will be resolved in our age as we keep talking. My essential argument is this: Since it is not intended to “forcefully” take reparations but rather to appeal to the “good sense” of the wrongdoer to pay up, it will be difficult to convince him of our seriousness while he sees us at table with our erring compatriots. He will take us for jokers and we do not have what it takes to fight him. At least, not presently. Deep thinkers, like Dr. Narmer Amenuti believes that our problem with our compatriots is, or can be treated as an “internal matter” resolvable on a different timetable. He buttresses his argument by explaining the activities of native spies and traitors in a country and why their activities should not be allowed to derail the national dream. That is an intelligent view very characteristic of its maker,if you follow him on facebook, but my humble conception is that our people cannot realise their expectations relative to the wrongdoer until they take a stand for honesty. That is to say, in my view, that while we place our demand before the wrongdoer we should in the same breath and time, call on our erring compatriots to apologise for their role. An apology will only heal the family, it will not break it up. My greetings to Martha. I reliably informed she is pregnant with your thirteenth baby. Eh!!! My man be that.
