Tyler Perry has graced news headlines this week with the announcement of a new film set for production and a major milestone for his television show House of Payne.

In Lionsgate’s upcoming romantic drama Good Deeds, Perry will star alongside Thandie Newton (For Colored Girls, The Pursuit of Happyness, 2012). According to Variety, Perry will play Glen Deeds, an affluent and successful entrepreneur who’s about to get married when he becomes enamored by a down-on-her-luck single mom (Newton).

As usual, he will write, direct, and produce through his Tyler Perry Studios. Production is scheduled to start at the end of April in Atlanta.

On the television front, Perry’s House of Payne just celebrated its 210th episode! Perry told his fans:

HO– USE OF PAYNE has done more episodes than GOOD TIMES, more episodes than SANFORD AND SON, and even more episodes than THE COSBY SHOW. THE JEFFERSONS is the only show of this genre to have more episodes. Ella and Curtis are running a close second to George and Weezie. (smile)[/sws_blockquote_endquote]

Entering its final season, House of Payne airs on Wednesdays at 10pm/9c.

  1. Oh gad! Another Tyler Perry? Why? How many Tyler Perry movies come out a year? Aren’t people like tied with seeing him?

  2. I love TP. Without TP, I don’t know where Black Cinema would be. Look how Thandie Newton is getting great roles in his movies and spending time with the black people where she belongs. I feel that TP has brought a few British born black actors like Idris Elba and Thandie Newton to the USA, into Black Cinema, away from their limited roles in British film.

    • No!. TP always has to come out with a Madea movie for every movie he makes. It’s becoming ridiculous. He made ‘Why Did I Get Married’s, and for every one of them he made a Madea gig. When he came out with ‘For Colored Girls’ just last year before the Oscars… and he is coming out with a Madea this April. Now Good Deeds? There’s going to be another Madea after that too.

Aren’t you all tired of it? How much Madea do you have to see. He must as well turn it into a TV show.
